THE STORY
Ka the Shaking Gravel
Three people. A big sound. No interest in staying in one box.
Ka the Shaking Gravel, or KTSG, are a Vienna-based three-piece bringing together rock, soul, blues and psychedelic textures into something distinctly their own. Since 2023, they have been making waves through Vienna’s underground music scene with a sound that is warm and soulful at its core, but has enough grit and volume to shake the walls.
KTSG are proof that you do not need a six-piece band to make a big noise. William Perlmutter, Jonathan Wise and Markus Kranzler build an expansive live sound from guitar, bass and drums, moving between intimate songwriting, heavy grooves and full-bodied rock energy.
But the band has never been only about what happens on stage. KTSG are part of a wider community of musicians, artists and people building their own spaces around Vienna’s independent music scene. Their shows are designed to feel less like a performance happening in front of an audience and more like something everyone in the room is creating together.
Since 2024, KTSG have been performing consistently across Austria, Switzerland and Slovakia. In 2025, they reached their strongest audience numbers to date, bringing in a minimum of 74 paid tickets per show.
Now, with their debut album The Electric Ministry, KTSG are taking the next step. Bigger stages, wider audiences, same three people, same refusal to make the music smaller than it needs to be.
The Leader
Will de Pearl is the lead singer, writer and guitar player of KTSG.
Originally from America, William began performing to live audiences in Vienna in 2021. His songs are deeply personal, drawing on introspection and vitality and often feeling like an intimate personal diary opened up to the world. There is a calmness to his presence that sits alongside the emotional openness of his songwriting.
William moved to Austria as a “return to his homeland”, with his family originating from western Ukraine during the Austro-Hungarian Empire. His love for Vienna is unmistakable, and the city has become an important part of his life and musical development.
In 2024, William volunteered with Waves Vienna, contributing behind the scenes to the city’s music scene. Together with Liliánna Gerse, he founded Our Blood is Wien, an initiative supporting emerging artists and showcasing Vienna’s creative heartbeat.

The Star
Jonathan Wise is the bass player of KTSG and one of the band’s defining personalities on stage.
Originally from Zimbabwe, Jonathan grew up listening to Paul Simon, Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Tracy Chapman. His experiences growing up in Zimbabwe gave him a lasting appreciation for the life he has built in Vienna, and that energy carries into both his music and his presence on stage.
Jonathan is also a songwriter in his own right and a member of Vienna-based Izethekeli Band. In KTSG, his bass playing provides a central part of the band’s groove and energy, while his lively personality helps bring the room to life long before he even picks up his bass.
The Kavorka
Markus Kranzler is the drummer of KTSG and has been part of Vienna’s music scene since the 1990s.
Originally from Floridsdorf, Markus grew up with core members of Wanda and brings decades of experience to the drumkit. His musical influences include The Police, Nirvana, Creedence Clearwater Revival and The Rolling Stones.
His carefree approach translates directly to the audience, while his attention to detail gives KTSG’s songs the boom and attitude they deserve. Markus brings the experience of a seasoned Vienna musician while remaining deeply connected to the energy and spontaneity of live performance.

The Catalyst
Liliánna Gerse is KTSG’s manager, content producer and show-day organiser, helping shape the band’s work both on and off stage. From coordinating logistics and supporting live performances to developing content and strengthening the band’s presence, she is involved in every part of KTSG’s behind-the-scenes operations.
Liliánna joined the KTSG team in July 2025. She has been active in Vienna’s alternative scene since 2019 and sees her work in music as a creative counterbalance to her academic life. Her dedication and hands-on involvement have earned her the affectionate title of the band’s “fourth member.”
Together with William de Pearl, Liliánna has been leading Our Blood is Wien, an initiative supporting emerging artists and showcasing Vienna’s creative community.
